CRACKING THE
SCREENING TEST FOR CSS COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION—2014 (MOST RECOMMENDED BOOKS AND
RESOURCES)
Part-I: English
Vocabulary – Princeton Review Word Smart Part-I & Part-II
– since the time is short; you can just concentrate on the word lists in the SAT
and GRE Hit Parades given at the end of both the books.
Grammar Usage – Practical English Grammar by Thomas &
Martinet
Comprehension – Exercises of comprehension given in any grammar
of B.A level and the question of comprehension given in the past CSS papers of
Precis’ and Composition
Part-II: General
Abilities
Needless to mention that the Secondary School Certificate
(SSC) level means the matriculation level.
The books used for preparation of Revised-GRE mathematics
sections can be of immense help for learning/revising the matriculation level
mathematics and specifically for the topics of this screening test i.e. Basic
Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, logical reasoning and analytical ability. I don’t
think so the matriculation level textbooks would be of much help in better
understanding of the topics at hand.
